My Dream Nigeria

Nigeria, a nation located in the western region of Africa, consisting of over 185 million people blessed with over 40 mineral resources is described as the 7th most populous country in the world comprising of 2.48% of total world population, and a total land mass of 910, 810 km2 (UN, 2016). Going by her enormous number of resources, one might quickly conclude Nigeria is a world giant.

Unfortunately, the country is presently struggling to retain its “Giant of Africa” title; a position it has long lost due to the presence of not just corruption but IMPUNITY (legal exemption from punishment).

My dream Nigeria is one where there won’t be fuel queues not because our people do not ride cars but because of the presence of unceasing power supply which will help limit fuel purchase to strictly cars, buses, etc.

A Nigeria where politicians are not clinging to power for wealth accumulation but to carry out their responsibilities as stated in the Nigerian Constitution. This can be done by simply cutting off some of the incentives associated with these political offices. An individual elected to serve can best be described as a servant (one who is hired to perform regular duties, and receives compensation). Going by this definition, its evident the Nigerian system is acting otherwise.

A better Nigeria can be achieved by an improvised system of communication between the Government and the people; this can be done through town hall meetings and regular communication through traditional and social media.

In addition, prior to the election date, a detailed blueprint showing the politicians believed problems of Nigeria and his/her solutions to them should be requested by the people; this will help provide a pathway for the politician after he/she has been elected.
