IF I HEAR PIM!!!

I was wondering why the average Nigerian is used to suffering in silence. I got the answer. It starts from childhood; When our parents spank us and tell us not to cry and they say, “If I hear pim” — A, H. ADIGUN

Does the dictatorial tendency of an average African (parent) explain the popularisation of the phrase “If I hear Pim”?

An average Nigerian is literally silenced from the womb.

From pregnant mothers rubbing their swollen stomachs and gently telling the kicking baby to stop;

to silencing the baby with breast milk when they cry. 😢

Soon they graduate to the stage of getting whips for every act considered to be wrong by a guardian.The cycle continues till you’re 6-feet under the ground. ⚰

Oh! I almost forgot to mention journalists who are jailed for exposing corruption.

There’s also the elected official who rules like Hitler for 3 years and suddenly becomes a humble cripple just to get your valuable thumbprint again. Complain and you will be verbally and physically attacked.

The phrase “If I hear pim” can best be described as “a notification of an infliction of a greater pain, one which greatly supersedes what an individual is currently experiencing”

Young (uneducated) girls are being married off before puberty under the guise of ‘religion’. And Mama dare not talk.

Individuals reporting social media accounts simply because they don’t subscribe to the moral and ethical beliefs the tweep subscribes to.

Young ladies sexually assaulted by lecturers, despite giving the course their all. They can’t complain because the Dean and Vice Chancellor are members of the sex-cult.

What about the University Lecturer who says A is for God, B is for me, C is for the ‘best student’?

For how long are we going to continue to be scared of saying pim?

Is it until lecturers assault all our girls and ruin the system?

Or when the security personnel who swore to protect the masses deposit all our boys behind bars for non-existent crimes?

Or when politicians burn all that is left of the strand called Nigeria?

Naija, how far na? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
